Monday Night Football Public Betting Report

Scott Morris | September 16, 2013

Public betting numbers are important for well publicized heavily wagered games like those of Monday Night Football. As of 3:00 pm EST here is the betting report: The information is taken from 5 top sportsbooks and combined.

The public is all over The Cincinnati Bengals -6 to the tune of 78%! This is clearly one of the most lopsided publicly bet games of the week.  There are many factors that have the public all over the Bengals at home here. The fact that the Steelers lost at home last week to the Titans certainly contributes.  The fact that Cincinnati is at home and this is a home opener and a prime time game factors in as well. And finally, the fact that millions of football fans tuned into HBO’s “Hardknocks” this summer and saw a ‘behind the scenes’ look at The Bengals, and they looked very strong, is also a factor.

I think we may have our first great Monday Night ATP (Against the Public) play of the 2013 season.  These two teams are old rivals and should fight tooth and nail against one another. Don’t forget, the Bengals are also 0-1 this year after falling to the Bears last week in Chicago. If you choose to bet the Steelers you can get a full touchdown (at the time of me writing this article) at Bovada Sportsbook.

The public is also smashing the moneyline to the tune of 85%!  That is Cincy -260, and people are betting it like hot cakes. I think the Steelers plus the points is a good strong play.
